A Month with Kindred Spirit Orchestra

I have been fortunate to work with great minds and great people through out my career and one of those is with the musicians of Kindred Spirit Orchestra. Having been with them for four weeks, I have seen a lot of behind the scene actions of producing a concert.

My appreciation for Classical musical has been reinforced as I see the sweat, tears and dedication of the musicians on stage. There are many things that I’ve realized. For example, I found out that Cello is 8 pounds and that orchestra can practice in sections (they call it sectional rehearsal).

But amidst the hardship, I also saw dedication among the musicians. Zeena, principal oboe for Kindred Spirit Orchestra told me that coming to play with the musicians who are passionate about music is a good thing. True. I can’t agree more.

At the end of the night, everyone is exhausted. Musicians come home with renewed enthusiasm for the coming week. But there’s more work ahead of them. Musicians have to practice at least an hour a day to be able to competently play with the orchestra.

Kindred Spirit Orchestra will perform at the Glenn Gould Studio on June 12 at 8:00 pm.
