I was routed to three different people. And even after telling your rep that I was from Ontario – my call was forwarded to BC telemarketing.

Telus, I’m confused. Why are your telemarketers so rude? And why can’t you track calls based on phone numbers? Can a telemarketing vendor help Telus?

Some of you may remember, about a year and a half ago we, as an office, collected several boxes of cosmetics and hygiene items for donation to the Mental Health and Justice Court of Toronto. All the items we collected went to women who are in the court system and who are struggling with mental health and addition issues. Our donation was met with great gratitude from the support workers who struggle to help these women build their self-esteem as they go back into the working world, through their court appearances and mental health programming.

I don’t know about you, but I buy a lot of cosmetics that come with gift packs of free items that I never use. If you (or the women in your life) have any cosmetics, hygiene or grooming items, that are completely new and unused, that you would like to donate to the Mental Health and Justice Court of Toronto, please let me know and/or just drop them off at my office and I will make sure they get into the right hands.

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings.

The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.

When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbor.

Before she says a word, Bob says, ‘I’ll give you $800 to drop that towel.’

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob, after a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.

When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, ‘Who was that?’

‘It was Bob the next door neighbor,’ she replies.

‘Great,’ the husband says, ‘did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?’

Moral of the story:

If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

He has talked about hardship, dedication and passion for living his dream. You too can do it:

Mr. Poneman works nearly without pause — skipping sleep two nights a week, he said, and living in a spartan bachelor pad in Lincoln Park. Yet none of it, so far, has made him much money. His Web site takes in some advertising from Google but is barely profitable. Even a showcase tournament he plans to host late this month will net only about $8,000. “My only expense is living,” Mr. Poneman said. “I don’t buy any luxuries, and I sacrifice everything else.”

Still, Mr. Poneman is building something he hopes will be more valuable over time: A network of people that, in Mr. Poneman’s view, have economic value over time.

“My goal is not to make as much money as possible now but to build as much capital as possible,” he said. “Eventually, I will be able to transfer that capital.”
